Bios
Mallam Jerry represents the real-life orchestrator and the political teacher and revolutionist who was behind the hijacking of the Nigeria Airways Airbus A310 in 1993.
He had been a rebel leader in a group called the Movement for the Advancement of Democracy (MAD). At this time, he, like most of the citizens has become constantly frustrated by bad governance and Mallam Jerry recruits 4 teenage boys to carry out a deadly mission. He arranges for the team to hop onto the next flight from Lagos to Abuja with a simple demand - the resignation of Sani Abacha the sitting president of Nigeria.
Mallam Jerry tells his recruits that they will be restoring the stolen mandate and will be doing this for the fatherland. They trust him and go off to a failed mission.
InformationSam Dede is known to play the most graceful characters, but Mallam Jerry Yusuf in the movie Hijack ’93 breaks that streak. The character stages a hijack on a Nigerian Airways Airbus A310 aircraft en route from Lagos to Abuja, Nigeria, with 132 passengers and 11 crew members on board in 1993 and things turn dark.
The hijackers will leverage the situation for a negotiation with the government.
Sam Dede in Hijack’93
Samuel Dedetoku aka Sam Dede has been back and forth between acting and lecturing at the the University of Port Harcourt. He has played some of the most favourite roles and characters that Nollywood remembers. Mallam Jerry compliments that list.
For three decades Sam Dede has given his best to fans including with his performance in Issakaba and Ijele. The actor has promised his fans that he will bring back Issakaba in an announcement made at the beginning of 2024. The Return of Issakaba which Dede calls the upcoming movie has yet to be released and there are still very few details known about it.
