Forbes extracted the names of black billionaires from its list of the richest people in the world. While 83rd on the main list, Dangote ranks first on the list of black billionaires globally.

Forbes has dropped the result of its global survey of billionaires for 2025. The list is further segmented to hold names grouped by different standards.

Aliko Dangote, the wealthiest person in Nigeria, also ranks at the top of the list for 23 Black billionaires worth a total of $96 billion.

  1. Aliko Dangote — He has appeared several times on the Forbes list of the richest people for years. Most recently, he appears to have doubled his fortune with the launch of a $23 billion refinery, which, according to Forbes, was a risky bet.
  2. Aliko Dangote is Africa’s richest person. He founded the chain of business, having served under his grandfather as a young man. The conglomerate includes Dangote Cement, the continent’s largest cement producer, where he owns 85% of publicly traded Dangote Cement through a holding company, Dangote Fertilizer, as well as Dangote Sugar.

    Dangote Refinery, the latest on the chain, is Africa’s biggest yet. It began construction in 2016 and refining operations in early 2024.
