The new DG of the National Youth Service Corps NYSC, Brigadier General OO Nafiu has promised Corps members that they are going to receive their full monthly allowance of ₦77,000 starting from March 2025.

This was stated during a gathering at the NYSC quarters in Abuja on Thursday.

Earlier this week, there was a series of discussions about the welfare of corp members after a girl Rita Ushie made a viral video to complain about the hardship in Nigeria.

Several issues arose from the video and it seems the government has responded positively to the requests.

The presidential aide had a different feeling towards Rita and said that she deserved capital punishment. This was then translated to the death penalty by the media and was taken seriously by the netizens.

The aide appears to be focused on the abuse of her call as a youth corper who has sworn an oath of allegiance to the FG.

Youth corpers are not allowed by this allegiance to criticise the government. According to the Aide, Rita broke that oath when she used “terrible” to describe President Tinubu.

Netizens believe that there are tribal sentiments to this as the aide is also of the same tribe as the president.

The explosion and a suspected attack on the Trans-Niger Pipeline, TNP, have warranted a state of emergency in Rivers State. President Bola Tinubu made the announcement Tuesday, where he also suspended the current administration as well as, instated a new leader, Vice Admiral Ibokette Ibas, for six months to run the affairs of the state.

A Nigerian presidential aide placed a verdict on a corps member, Rita, saying that she should face capital punishment for calling the president terrible. Rita was summoned by her NYSC LGA, and she is getting assistance from Omoyele Sowore and his lawyers.
