The Trans Niger Pipeline, (TNP) was shut on Tuesdays following a fire caused by a blast the previous night. The TNP is a major highway for transporting onshore crude oil to the Bonny export terminal.

The Renaissance Group confirms this blast barely a week after completing the acquisition of Shell’s former onshore assets. It has now dispatched a team to investigate inorder to rule out the possibility of an attack on the operations of the TNP pipeline.

The consortium includes Nigerian exploration and production companies Aradel Energy, First E & P, Waltersmith, and ND Western, along with the international energy group Petroline.

With a capacity of around 450,000 barrels per day, the TNP is one of two that export channels for Bonny Light crude from Nigeria.
