Following the explosion and a suspected attack on the Trans-Niger Pipeline, TNP, President Bola Tinubu has declared a state of emergency in Rivers State.

While that is one of the many issues with the oil-rich Nigerian state, he said it is the right thing to do having tried his best as president to restore order.

Investigations are still ongoing to ascertain what happened in the state where a fire was discovered around the TNP pipeline on Bonny road.

The statement makes it clear that the inability of the administrative body to work together has forced his hands.

The president progresses to talk about the news of vandalization in the town without the government taking actions.

“The latest security report made available to, show that between yesterday and today, there has been disturbing incidents of vandaliation of pipelines by some mililtants without the government taking any actions to curtail them.”
