Ibas Recalls Suspended Boards of Agencies, Commissions and Parastatals


As the sole administrator of Rivers State, Ibas is exercising his rights to appoint new roles as the office gives him power to.

The new Rivers State head, Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas (retd.), has recalled some boards of agencies, commissions, and parastatals, in suspension. More so, the new head is going ahead with the suggested appointments of administrators that will manage the local government councils.

Earlier, Ibas received a disapproval from a Federal High Court sitting in Port Harcourt and 24 hours later, he has made new appointments.

Secretary to the State Government, Prof. Ibibia Worika, announced early on Wednesday morning that the 23 Local Government Areas of the state were assigned administrators.

All appointments take effect immediately.

It reads, “His Excellency The Administrator of Rivers State, Vice Admiral (Rtd) Ibok-Ete Ekwe Ibas CFR, has approved the appointments of administrators for the 23 Local Government Areas of Rivers State. All appointments take effect from Monday, the 7th of April 2025.”

Only a few details are known of the appointment of administrators in Rivers State. According to the announcement, Ibas also appointed a chair in the person of Michael Odey as the new Chairman of the Rivers State Independent Electoral Commission (RSIEC) and new members on the commission.
