Nigeria and Cape Verde Begin New AI Innovation Mission, The Digital Africa Corridor


Nigeria–Cabo Verde Business & Innovation Mission, a mission is planned for late 2025 in Praia, Cabo Verde, to connect Nigerian businesses with Cabo Verdean partners in various sectors. The most relevant aspect of the Nigerian-Cape Verde DAC would be its youth employment focus.

Africa can now begin to look forward to the most productive digital years ahead as Nigeria and Cabo Verde (Cape Verde) launched the Digital Africa Corridor (DAC) package, first on the continent.

DAC is a new initiative that aims to strengthen digital, business, and innovation ties between the two countries. More so, it aims to drive economic growth through strategic infrastructure and workforce development, focusing specifically on artificial intelligence (AI).

The expected format of the Business & Innovation Mission in Praia will be based the the most common structures. Similar to other innovation missions, it will include Business-to-business (B2B) matchmaking.

More so, there will be site visits and facility tours, an innovation showcase and networking events organized within the framework.

The mission, which will commence in Q4 2025, will prioritize digital collaboration, AI development, youth empowerment, and bilateral innovation.

A flagship program, “Code the Future – Cabo Verde Rising” will train over 500 secondary schoolgirls in Cabo Verde in coding, AI, and digital innovation. It will provide STEM toolkits and teacher training, and culminating in a youth showcase.

The initiative focuses on developing human capital and modernizing infrastructure. It will include fiber upgrades in Cabo Verde and potentially utilizing Nigeria’s data center market.

The corridor also aims to attract investment and foster trade, creating opportunities for businesses, especially in e-commerce. The DAC is designed to promote digital inclusion and ensure technology benefits all of Africa. It involves collaboration between governments, the private sector, and innovators, with SheCode.ai and Kryterion Limited playing leading roles.

The Cape Verde government is tasking partners to organise this mission to translate diplomatic goodwill into tangible programs and partnerships. It’s Secretary of State for Digital Economy, Pedro Nuno Alves Fernandes Lopes, has highlighted the initiative’s role in African nations leading their digital future.

Targeted sectors include digital economy, creative industries, renewable energy, tourism, education and climate innovation and climate action.
