The Mennonite Economic Development Associates (MEDA) and the Africa Communications Media Group (ACG) have released a joint discussion on the benefits of investing in African women.

Dr. Dorothy Nyambi, President & CEO of MEDA and Mimi Kalinda, Group CEO and Co-Founder of ACG took on the subject titled “Unveiling Africa’s Greatest Hidden Assets: The Rise of African Female Entrepreneurs” spotlighting the transformative power of female entrepreneurship across Africa. The discussion touches on critical economic themes that align closely with their audience’s interests.

See the full document below:

Important takeaways from the discussion include; Women as the greatest hidden assets in African investment and Challenges Faced by Female Entrepreneurs.

Dr. Nyambi and Ms. Kalinda jointly address how investing in women can catalyze sustainable economic growth, transform communities, and close a $42 billion funding gap that holds back female-led businesses.

The discussion further highlights success stories, including those of MEDA and Mastercard Foundation’s Africa Growth Fund. Joy Anderson, Founder and President of Criterion Institute also made contributions to the discussion.

It is also important to note why this discussion is valid. The African Development Bank’s 2024 economic outlook stated that Africa’s growth is resilient, however, requires greater diversification and robust investment in women entrepreneurs to unlock the continent’s full potential.
