Alex Iwobi has got a real rap skill. Stepping into the studio, writing lyrics and rapping was intentional and he revealed a new lot about him recently.
The Lagos-born footballer had some major moments during his last match with two goals scored against Brighton. He has given Fulham an early Christmas surprise which was instrumental in it securing the 6th place in the Premier League.
After a well-deserved victory, Iwobi is a musical talent and recently talked about expressing himself through music. He recently went into the studio to write and edit a son he calls “Defining Me.”
For Iwobi, music is one of the things he likes to enjoy with his friends. He admitted that he didn’t want people to know he was focused on football as everyone wanted to be an artist like all the celebrities. However, the older he got, he realised that he should be allowed to express himself, and he was doing that.
“With music, I literally talk however I want to talk”, Iwobi said. He also said that music gives him a sense of freedom, an escape from reality. “There are a lot of people that can actually rap, it’s just whether they are brave to put it out there.”
Iwobi said that he spends time listening to Afro beats even when he is riding with his parents in the car.
He wants to be expressive like his uncle Jay Jay Okocha. He wants to have the same influence as Okocha had on other people, footballers and aspiring human beings. “I want to be in his position”.
The ex-Super Eagle was a big part of Iwobis’s career. He used to tell him to express himself.
Iwobi ended by dishing out pieces of advice “At the end of the day, your opinion about yourself matters the most”.
“I am just a normal person at the end of the day who has worked hard to get into this position. If you apply yourself you can achieve what I have achieved or even more. The older I have got, I have tried to block out any negative noise and literally just make sure I am happy first”.
