WIZKID SPOTLIGHTS LATE MOTHER MORAYO IN NEW ALBUM
a year ago
Wizkid released an album he titled Morayo to honour his late mother. It is a far greater love than was seen in Mummy Mi.

Wizkid album Morayo
After the Louise Vuitton ss25 Show in Paris in June Nigerian artist popularly called Starboy/Wizikid/Wizzy was off to prepare for the release of his new album Morayo.
Wizkid weighs more than a singer and pulls just as much weight with him. His creativity stretches from music to fashion and possibly poetry as Esquire recently called him a motivational speaker.
Outside these categories, Wizkid is also known for making time to play father to his kids. The release of Morayo compliments it all, it clearly speaks of his love for family.
Jane Dolapo, the mother of Wikid passed on in 2023. The singer was seen at her funeral feeling sad and even cried a little bit. In his 2014 track “Mummy Mi” from the Album “Ayo”, Wizkid acknowledged his mother for her love and care. However, his current album was made all for her.

Morayo
He told Esquire that he named his 2024 album “Morayo” after his mother. Whilst getting fitted in his pre-SS25 collection picked by the Pharell Willaims team for the Paris Fashion Week – a V-neck Fair Isle jumper, a pair of tailored shorts and a very nice shirt – Wizkid had listened to the tracks on Morayo. The singer shared his feelings about it saying “It’s very, very personal, I hope it lifts spirits and spreads positive energy.”
Wizkid has often spoken of his identity as a Yoruba Nigerian and told Esquire that pushing Yoruba out there is very important to him.
Morayo is a traditional and cultural piece. The singer embraces his tribe, its music and the people in Morayo.
